Help Build a National Movement to Reduce Loneliness in Long-Term Care

Are you an experienced grant writer, nonprofit professional, researcher, or strong writer who wants to use your talents to make a lasting difference?

The National Association of Long-Term Care Volunteers (NALTCV) is seeking a mission-driven Volunteer Grant Writer to help secure funding that expands companion volunteer programs and reduces loneliness among people living in long-term care communities across the United States.

Nearly half of the approximately 1.5 million people living in long-term care communities receive few or no personal visitors

NALTCV is working to change that by recruiting, training, equipping, and supporting companion volunteers who build authentic relationships with residents.

This is more than a grant writing opportunity—it's an opportunity to help secure the resources needed to expand a national movement dedicated to bringing companionship, connection, and hope to older adults.

About NALTCV

NALTCV is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening volunteer engagement in long-term care communities through education, advocacy, research, and support for companion volunteers and volunteer managers. We work with individuals, long-term care communities, educators, and community partners to expand opportunities for meaningful volunteer engagement across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Help determine which funding opportunities best align with NALTCV's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Prepare and write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
  • Assist in gathering program information, budgets, and supporting data for grant applications.
  • Help maintain a grants calendar and track submission deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with NALTCV leadership to develop funding strategies.
  • Assist with grant reports and other funder communications, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience writing grants, proposals, or other persuasive documents is preferred.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, healthcare, aging services, or volunteer programs is helpful but not required.
  • Retired professionals, experienced grant writers, nonprofit consultants, and individuals seeking to build grant-writing experience are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Gain

  • The opportunity to help build the national voice for companion volunteering in long-term care.
  • Meaningful experience supporting a growing national nonprofit.
  • The opportunity to help secure funding that directly supports volunteer recruitment, education, research, and advocacy.
  • Flexible scheduling with a fully remote volunteer opportunity that can accommodate your availability.
  • Professional networking with nonprofit leaders and professionals committed to improving the lives of older adults.
  • The satisfaction of helping expand programs that reduce loneliness and strengthen meaningful human connection.

Time Commitment

Approximately 3–5 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible and can be adapted to your availability. Most collaboration takes place remotely through email, virtual meetings, and shared online tools.

If you're ready to use your grant writing and research skills to help build a national movement that brings companionship, connection, and hope to people living in long-term care communities, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us in creating compassionate connections and helping ensure that no one living in a long-term care community feels forgotten.
