Our property: The Lied Lodge resides within the 260 acres of Arbor Day Farm, which is a property owned & operated by the Arbor Day Foundation. It was created to give guests a place to experience nature in a comfortable setting. A natural setting, rustic ambience, and exceptional service make Lied Lodge unique to our guests. Lied Lodge is regionally recognized & offers 140 guest rooms, over 14,000 square feet of meeting space, and hosts a diverse audience of business and leisure guests 365 days a year.
Who we’re looking for:
The Arbor Day Foundation is in search for a General Manager to lead its Lied Lodge at Arbor Day Farm. We’re looking for someone who will lead our Team Members by example, fostering a strong, cohesive team environment that builds confidence and strong morale while maintaining high retention. This role is responsible for managing operations, driving growth, & ensuring high levels of employee engagement and guest satisfaction. The General Manager oversees all aspects of the hotel and will be responsible for supporting the Director of Sales, Director of Rooms, Director of Maintenance, and the Director of Food and Beverage.

This role will report to the Vice President of Arbor Day Farm.

Essential Functions of the position:
- Cultivate & maintain a positive and engaging culture for both guests & Team Members
- Supervise and develop the performance of all department directors and their respective departments, including Reservations, Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, & Sales to ensure the highest level of guest and employee satisfaction in a cost-effective manner.
- Develop and maintain relationships with guests to ensure retention.
- Manage guest feedback forum and service recovery efforts.
- Monitor the full range of operations and financial performance of the Lied Lodge while providing operational guidance to leaders and team members.
- Ensuring financial success of the hotel by managing expenses, controlling labor costs, and assuming overall responsibility for revenue management.
- Facilitating the alliance between all departments to support effective revenue generation & operational excellence.
- Ensure all hotel policies and procedures are fully implemented in all departments, including Safety, Emergency and Human Resources as outlined in the Team Member Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to provide world-class service to guests & Team Members
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills
- Energetic, positive team player
- Strong aptitude in financial management, financial reports and analysis
- Familiarity with OSHA, local Department of Health regulations and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances.
- Must be able to read, write, & speak English. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
- Must be able to handle standing/walking, carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds, bending/twisting, climbing stairs and more.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent coursework in a related specialized field and two years of related experience, or a Master's degree.
- Ten years of hospitality driven experience, preferably in a variety of departments
- Boutique or independent property experience is preferred
- Valid Driver’s License in good standing with the Department of Motor Vehicles
Schedule:
- Full-time position
- Must have the ability to work a variety of shifts (days, nights, weekends, & holidays)
- Must be able to be on-call
