About the NASA Postdoctoral Program

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Description:

This opportunity supports NASA’s Heliophysics strategic priorities by advancing understanding of Sun–planet interactions and enabling improved space weather prediction and exploration preparedness across the heliosphere. The selected researcher will conduct cutting-edge studies of space weather at the Moon, Mars, and other planetary environments, focusing on how space weather affects human and robotic exploration. The work will examine how external drivers (e.g., solar energetic particles, coronal mass ejections, solar radiation) and internal drivers (e.g., atmospheric composition and dust, plume–surface interactions) influence planetary magnetic fields, atmospheres, and surface/plasma environments and how these conditions may affect mission operations, system performance, and astronaut safety.
