Elementary Teacher Job Summary K-5
We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered K–5 Elementary Teacher to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate is committed to creating a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment where all students can achieve academic and personal success.
The Elementary Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering standards-aligned instruction, monitoring student progress, maintaining effective classroom management, communicating with families, and collaborating with school leadership and instructional staff to support student achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons appropriate for students in grades K–5.
- Create a positive, structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of individual learners.
- Use student performance data, classroom assessments, and observations to guide instructional decisions.
- Monitor student academic progress and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records related to student grades, attendance, assessments, and progress.
- Establish clear classroom expectations, routines, procedures, and behavior-management practices.
- Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students regarding their academic performance.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and accomplishments.
- Participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, professional development, collaborative planning, and school-wide activities.
- Collaborate with Exceptional Student Education (ESE), English Language Learner (ELL/ESOL), intervention, counseling, and administrative staff as appropriate.
- Implement accommodations, modifications, intervention plans, IEPs, 504 Plans, and other student-support requirements as applicable.
- Integrate technology and instructional resources to support student learning.
- Maintain an organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Supervise students during assigned instructional and non-instructional activities.
- Support school-wide academic, behavioral, attendance, and student-development initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable school policies, professional standards, and state and federal requirements.
- Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by school administration.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to meet applicable state requirements for employment as an elementary classroom teacher.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with elementary-aged students.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, administrators, and student-support personnel.
- Commitment to maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations for all students.
Preferred
- Florida teaching certification or eligibility for certification in an appropriate elementary education subject area.
- Previous teaching, student teaching, tutoring, or instructional experience with elementary-aged students.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction, data-driven instruction, classroom management, and intervention strategies.
- Experience supporting students with IEPs, 504 Plans, ESE services, and/or English Language Learner needs.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning platforms.

Work Environment
This position requires regular interaction with students, families, faculty, and school leadership within an elementary school environment. The employee must be able to perform normal classroom responsibilities, supervise students, use instructional technology, and participate in school-related activities throughout the workday.
