Overview:
The Lead Mechanic will be able to inspect, troubleshoot equipment and perform necessary repairs after diagnosis. Primary job focus includes inspection, diagnosis, and repair of various vehicles and machines, like trucks, forklifts and trailers. The Mechanic will possess an in-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems including hydraulic and pneumatic that allow them to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair issues.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Demonstrated ability to lift heavy components safely during maintenance tasks while adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with electrical skills for troubleshooting electrical systems in various machinery types.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics tools and schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.
- Ability to perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and electrical components using schematics and service manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and wheel alignments to keep equipment in optimal condition.
- Knowledge and experience in repair and maintenance of diesel equipment
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical and hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Operate efficiently and with high focus and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate good communication skills with equipment operators, vendors, and more.
- Demonstrate flexibility to move from one job to another based-on priority
- Conduct field visits in case of fleet emergencies or malfunctions.
- Be willing to work overtime as business load requires.
- Participate in shop provided training.
- May assist warehouse staff with pulling and preparing orders for shipment, as well as receiving, verifying, staging, and stocking all incoming material.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to repeat the same or similar tasks multiple times per day.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of basic math and computer skills.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
5 years of proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Diesel mechanic certification preferred.
- CDL preferred.
- Clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug test.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Able to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, Forklift, pallet jacks, etc.
- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles.
- Alert, focused, and detail oriented.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. at a time.
Expected Work Hours:
- Monday – Friday 8-4 (overtime as needed)
