HIM Manager

Job Purpose: The Coding and Health Information Management Manager works collaboratively with NLH management, providers, staff, and patients to optimize the scanning, chart analysis, coding and charge capture processes. The manager will oversee the collection of patient information while supporting internal and external customers and working collaboratively across interdepartmental teams. This position ensures the efficient and effective daily operation of patient data, Worklists, and adequate staffing coverage of all areas of responsibility. This position will use critical thinking and analytical skills to complete special projects. This position supports and maintains ongoing processes and procedures that allow for accurate, complete, and timely verification of patient information, as well as, organizational mission, vision, values and regulatory standards. Supports, recognizes, and promotes teamwork within and across Coding and Health Information as well as with other departments. Will directly manage, audit, and review activities of the coding, clerical, analysis and other personnel engaged in the clerical functions of the Department. Assists with third party payer denials. Assists HIM Director in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily functions of the department. This position is on site with the ability to occasionally work remotely with approval from the HIM Director.

Education: Possess a High School diploma plus graduation from an Associates program or equivalent education in a medical field, plus RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CTR professional designation. Must have strong computer skills.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CTR professional designation.

Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2) years experience ICD-10 and CPT-4 hospital coding. Possess two (2) years supervisory experience.

Preferred: Possess five (5) plus years experience ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 and CPT-4 hospital coding. Possess five (5) plus years supervisory experience.
