What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Natay Construction?
Full-Time | $80,000-$150,000 DOE | Farmington, UT (occasional Wasatch Front travel)
We're Not Looking For Just Anyone - We Need THE One
Natay (Nah-Tay) Construction is a rapidly growing, premium construction company specializing in high-end residential remodels and commercial projects across Park City, Wasatch Back. We're Native American-owned, values-driven, and committed to redefining excellence in construction through planning, communication, and professionalism.
We are hiring an Estimator who can think beyond takeoffs and pricing. This role is built for someone with strong construction experience who can see the full picture of a project, think strategically, and help lead jobs from preconstruction through execution.
While the title is Estimator, this is functionally a Project Management role. You will help shape scope, costing, planning, client decisions, and project outcomes before construction starts, then work closely with the on-site Superintendent who manages the project through construction. We want someone who thinks like an estimator, acts like an owner, and can keep projects organized, profitable, and moving forward.
About the Role
This role requires someone who can stay at the 10,000-foot level while still understanding the details that make a project successful. You will help create clarity before problems show up, support the field team, and keep projects moving with strong financial and operational oversight.
You will be involved early, helping define scope, align pricing, identify risks, and support better decisions before work begins. This role is critical to setting projects up well from the start and helping the company operate with more predictability, stronger margins, and fewer surprises.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
- Estimating & Cost Planning: Build accurate estimates, budgets, scopes, and cost forecasts that support strong project outcomes from the beginning.
- Plan Review & Risk Identification: Review plans, selections, and project details carefully to catch issues early, reduce surprises, and improve accuracy.
- Client Coordination: Work directly with clients to finalize design details, pricing decisions, and scope alignment before construction begins.
- Project Leadership Support: Make informed decisions on issues escalated by the Superintendent and help keep priorities clear as projects move forward.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Improve costing accuracy, reduce unnecessary change orders through proactive planning, and help create stronger systems, documentation, and consistency across projects.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong construction experience who can think strategically without losing touch with the details. The right person understands how to protect budget, schedule, quality, and client experience at the same time.
You will likely be a fit if you bring:
- Critical Skills: Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving. Ability to manage multiple moving parts, think ahead, and follow through without constant oversight.
- Required Qualifications: Experience in estimating, preconstruction, project management, superintendent work, or another construction role with strong responsibility for budgeting, coordination, and execution. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel between projects as needed are also important.
- Construction Background: We are looking for someone who understands construction from both a practical and financial perspective. The ideal candidate can see how early decisions affect scope, cost, schedule, and project success.
- Personality Traits We Value: Proactive, steady under pressure, detail-aware, accountable, respectful of process, and genuinely motivated to improve and grow.
- Red Flags That Won't Work Here: Avoiding problems when things get messy, waiting to be told every next step, poor communication, reactive thinking, weak financial follow-through, and lack of ownership.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive compensation: $80,000-$150,000 DOE
- Real responsibility and room to grow
- Direct exposure to leadership and high standards
- Opportunity to build a long-term career in a growing company
- A team that values communication, professionalism, and ownership
Natay Construction is an equal opportunity employer. We're looking for someone who shares our commitment to excellence, professionalism, and getting things done right the first time.
