Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manages the wastewater operation to assure the most efficient and economical use of chemicals and equipment
Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance to maintain proper operation of the treatment plant
Monitors proper chemical usage
Performs daily inspection of treatment plant probes, pumps, filters, tanks, and controllers
Conducts daily monitoring of specific condition to determine the overall viability of the treatment plant
Analyzes and provides proper records of the plant as well as discharge levels to management staff
Provides weekly samples for analysis
Records daily readings of the treatment plant as well as daily water meter readings in specific areas throughout the production facility
Complies with all applicable laws and regulations and is the point person for EPA and DPA
Demonstrates safety/OSHA principals and always follows proper lockout procedures
Completes project and other duties that may be assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
Candidate must have a Grade 4M or above certificate issued by State of Massachusetts
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field a plus
Three to five years of similar work experience in the operation and maintenance of high volume wastewater treatment facility
Thorough knowledge of chemicals used in the daily operation of wastewater facilities
Mechanical aptitude, ability to understand data from gauges, scales, and valves
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of regulatory procedures and reporting requirements
Ability and willingness to work longer shifts and that may include weekends and holidays
Able to walk, stand for extended periods of time, sit and talk or hear regularly
Able to use both hands and fingers to feel or handle, sit for extended periods of time, stand frequently, bend, squat, reach and turn
Able to adapt to temperature changes of hot and cold conditions
Ability to handle heights and confined spaces
Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds - may require a push or pull with a dolly or pallet jack up to 500 lbs
