Information Technology Specialist

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects and technologies– below are examples of potential duties/needed skills.

Responsibilities:

• Policy and Planning: Contributing to strategic IT planning, policy development, resource management, and information security initiatives across the organization.

• Enterprise Architecture: Participating in the analysis, design, and management of the enterprise IT framework.

• Security: Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of security programs, policies, and tools to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.

• Applications Software: Participating in the development, modification, testing, and support of new and existing applications software.

• Systems: Supporting the planning, installation, configuration, and management of NASIC’s systems environment.

• Network Services: Contributing to the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of networked systems.

• Data Management: Participating in the development, implementation, and administration of systems for data acquisition, storage, and retrieval.

• Systems Administration: Assisting in the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.

• Customer Support: Providing customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and training.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is highly desired.

• Operating Systems: Proficiency with Windows, macOS, Linux, or other relevant OS.

• Networking: Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and basic network troubleshooting.

• Hardware: Familiarity with computer hardware components and troubleshooting.

• Software Installation & Configuration: Ability to install, configure, and update software applications.

• Security Fundamentals: Awareness of security best practices, threat landscapes, and basic security tools.

• Scripting/Automation: Basic scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automating tasks.

• Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to provide customer service and support to end-users.

It also means you’ll start at the entry level grade and receive annual promotions to the next salary as you become more skilled and meet performance requirements.

Think of our jobs as having levels, like rungs on a ladder. The higher the number, the more responsibility and experience you're expected to have, and generally, the higher the pay.

Here’s an example of the salary & grade progressions:

1 year - GG-2210-07 step 1 - $52,339

2 years - GG-2210-09 step 1 - $64,021

3 years - GG-2210-11 step 1 - $77,460

4 years - GG-2210-12 step 1 - $92,841

Where you’ll fall within the salary range above will depend upon the specific role you’re hired for. Some jobs require more specialized STEM skills, resulting in higher pay.
