The Recycling Specialist plays a key role in managing the regrinding and recycling of vinyl records. This position requires collaboration with material handlers, adherence to safety standards, and efficient handling of raw and regrind materials. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in the recycling process.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Material Handlers: Work with material handlers to facilitate the collection and consolidation of vinyl flashing from records. Sort and separate materials by color, ensuring they are moved to the recycling staging area.
- Color Sorting: Ensure that colors are correctly allocated and separated to prevent mixing with contaminants. Properly store and safeguard grinded materials until picked up and stored by the warehouse team.
- Safety Compliance: Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, earplugs, and sleeves, to operate all equipment safely and prevent injury or exposure to harmful substances.
- Maintain Material Integrity: Safeguard grinded material by ensuring it remains free from foreign objects such as earplugs, center labels, or tape. Remain vigilant in keeping materials clean and pure for reuse.
- Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively to ensure proper color segregation and prevent contamination during the recycling process.
- Assist in Mixing Colors: Help in mixing high-dispersion colors for new or existing vinyl record jobs, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Daily Coordination: Work closely with leadership and management to ensure flexibility in daily tasks based on production demand and changing work priorities.
- Adhere to Best Practices: Follow best practices for vinyl recycling, maintain high cleanliness standards, and ensure the quality of grinded materials meets company specifications.
