We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Miscellaneous Steel Shop Foreman to lead our steel fabrication and installation operations. This role is pivotal in overseeing the day-to-day activities within the steel shop, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Foreman will coordinate with project managers to deliver exceptional results on time and within budget, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shop activities, including steel cutting, welding, assembly, and finishing processes
- Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure timely delivery of fabricated steel components
- Oversee quality control procedures, ensuring all work meets project specifications and safety standards
- Manage shop personnel, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing mentorship
- Maintain accurate production records, work schedules, and safety documentation using construction management software such as ProCore or Bluebeam
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and enforce safety protocols across all shop operations
- Review blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to interpret project requirements accurately
- Conduct regular inspections of tools and equipment to guarantee proper functioning and safety compliance
- Support project management by assisting with construction estimating, contracts review, and resource allocation for pipeline projects
Skills
- Proven experience supervising steel fabrication shops or construction sites with a focus on miscellaneous steel projects
- Excellent blueprint reading skills along with the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
- Familiarity with construction estimating processes and contract management principles
- Skilled in project scheduling, budgeting, quality control, and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Supervising experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety compliance under OSHA standards
- Proficient in construction site experience including use of heavy machinery and hand tools like ohmmeters for electrical testing
- Effective management and leadership skills to motivate teams while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety compliance
