Description

A 6th-grade middle school science and teacher’s job typically include planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment. They are responsible for implementing standards-aligned curriculum, engaging students in learning, and communicating with parents and school administration.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Implementation:

  • Plan and deliver lessons for middle school science, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards and addressing diverse learning needs.


Instructional Strategies:

  • Employ various teaching methods, including hands-on activities, discussions, and technology integration, to engage students and promote critical thinking.


Assessment:

  • Evaluate student understanding through a variety of assessments, including tests, projects, and presentations, and provide feedback to inform instruction.


Classroom Management:

  • Create and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment, managing student behavior effectively.


Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school administration regarding student progress and any concerns.


Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on current educational practices and participate in professional development opportunities.


Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administrators to support student learning.


Extracurricular Activities:

  • May be involved in extracurricular activities, such as clubs or teams, to provide additional opportunities for student engagement.

  • Strong content knowledge in science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Clearances on all required background checks (required)

SCHEDULE:

This is the equivalent of a full-time, exempt position, which works Monday-Friday from 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM with a 30-minute lunch break as commensurate with the hours the school is open. Time off shall coincide with the NCS teacher schedule and school holidays.
