What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Aide I position at Nash County?
Performs routine work scorekeeping for youth sports leagues, tournaments, and special events; does related work as required.
Employees in this class function as support staff for Recreation Program Supervisors and Site Supervisors. They represent the department and should be able to respond to public inquires.
Keeps score for youth sports leagues, keeping a scorebook and running a scoreboard;
Assists in setting up gyms and fields for league play;
Assist with special programs, which may involve decorating, hosting and cleaning up after events;
Assist in the main office with clerical duties, answering the phone, assisting customers, and other miscellaneous task;
Fills out accident report forms and incident report forms;
Fills out results forms and playing time sheets;
Communicates issues and problems to Rec Aide IV's, full time Recreation staff, and emergency personnel;
Enforces Nash County polices;
Provides routine information on departmental policies, procedures, and services;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Work assignment locations will vary. Facilities are located in Red Oak, Middlesex, Bailey, Spring Hope, Castalia, and Nashville, NC. Position normally involves 5-20 hours per week (seasonal); must be available evenings and weekends.
Applicant must have knowledge of or be able to gain knowledge of rules for baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and football; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees and the general public; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Some experience in community or group recreation activities in athletics, as a scorekeeper or participant. Must be at least 14 years of age.
