Summary

You will serve as a Health Technician performing health nursing services and technical health tests (e.g., electrocardiograms (EKGs), tuberculosis (TB), phlebotomy) for the Environmental Management Division at Stennis Space Center following As-Low-As-Reasonably-Possible (ALARA) principles.

Duties



Help



  • Serves as Clinic Radiation Safety Officer and maintains dosimetry, radiation safety, and health physics records.
  • Delivers full occupational health nursing services, including triage, assessments, immunizations, and case management.
  • Conducts audiometry, daily calibrations, and maintains hearing conservation records.
  • Administers vaccines, TB tests, phlebotomy, urinalysis, EKGs, vision screening, tonometry, and pulmonary function tests.
  • Performs X-ray examinations using ALARA principles, and manages secure image transfer and reporting.
  • Manages clinic inventory, maintains refrigeration logs, coordinates lab orders, and performs drug and alcohol testing with proper documentation.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for GS-08, you must have:

assisting with image transfer and documentation, and supporting radiation safety procedures under established

  • One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service
  • Performing basic radiologic and occupational health tasks such as conducting ALARA-based X-ray exams,

guidelines;

  • Providing routine clinical services such as triage, patient assessments, immunizations, audiometric testing,

vision screening, pulmonary function tests, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and EKGs while following standardized

protocols; and

  • Maintaining clinical and program records such as dosimetry logs, refrigerator/freezer temperature logs, hearing

conservation documentation, lab orders, and drug and alcohol testing records in compliance with applicable

policies and procedures.

OR

  • Completed at least 2 full academic years of graduate education with a major in a field directly related to the work of the position.

OR

  • Completed an internship directly related to the work of the position.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education as described in A, B, and C above.

Probationary Period
