What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President, Finance position at Narrative Distribution?
Location: New York City (Manhattan) / In-Office 5 Days/Week
Employment Type: Full-Time (Salary)
Company Description
Narrative Distribution is a global film and television distributor built to help content owners monetize at scale across streaming, transactional, broadcast, and digital platforms. Formed in 2024 as part of the broader Narrative® family of companies, the company combines modern cloud-based delivery and rights infrastructure with a senior team of proven distribution executives based in Los Angeles, New York, and London. Narrative Distribution maintains direct partnerships with leading platforms — from Amazon and Apple to Disney and Netflix — releasing over one hundred new titles annually while expanding a rapidly growing library with a strong focus on free ad-supported streaming, broadcast channels, and long-term rights monetization.
The company releases content through a portfolio of forward-thinking distribution labels: Chroma, a US-based global distributor championing science fiction and horror genre films; Persimmon, a global label devoted to mystery, romance, and true crime storytelling with a focus on direct-to-streaming and television; Wolfe Video, the longest-running and largest distributor of LGBTQ films in the world, celebrating its 40th anniversary; and classic film restoration label, Treasury. The VP, Finance serves as the financial leader of the organization, supporting all four labels and the broader distribution business.
Role Description
The Vice President, Finance is the senior financial leader at Narrative Distribution, responsible for building and running the company's finance function across accounting operations, financial planning, and strategic reporting. Working closely with the General Manager and the parent company’s CFO, and with the support of a Finance Manager, this role owns the full financial picture of a fast-growing, multi-label distribution business — from driving the modernization and maturation of finance infrastructure, to ensuring the books are accurate and the close runs smoothly, to providing revenue forecasting and the forward-looking analysis that informs business decisions.
This is a scrappy, hands-on role at a growth-stage company. The right candidate is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day accounting tasks in Sage Intacct as they are presenting a quarterly financial summary to senior leadership. Day-to-day responsibilities span the complete finance lifecycle: the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; ownership of the general ledger; accounts payable and receivable; and producing financial statements and management reports for the General Manager and parent company. A critical component of this role is royalty reporting — calculating, reconciling, and distributing royalty statements to licensors and content partners in accordance with underlying contract terms, and maintaining audit-ready records of all royalty obligations across the catalog.
Beyond the accounting core, the VP, Finance leads budgeting and forecasting for the business, partners with the General Manager on financial planning and resource allocation, and supports the Business Affairs team in reviewing vendor invoices and licensor payments for contractual alignment. The role also has meaningful input into the financial systems and automation workflows that power the function — and is expected to continuously improve how the finance operation runs as the company scales.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who thrives in a builder environment, wants genuine ownership over a company's financial operations, and is excited to grow alongside a dynamic, fast-moving entertainment business.
