Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Mechanic to join our Commercial Truck Shop. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of vehicles through thorough inspections, repairs, and maintenance services. Our Truck Shop works on everything from Escapes to F-750’s and large upfitted trucks.
Truck Shop Technician Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive repair orders from Manager and take to stall area.
- Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
- Notify service advisor immediately if additional work outlined is not needed or required and/ if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
- Document work in a timely fashion.
- Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician, keeping in mind that the customer vehicle should not be used for personal errands.
- Attend factory-sponsored training classes, keep abreast of factory technical bulletins, and ensure that customers’ cars are kept clean.
- Keep shop area neat, clean, and be able to always account for all dealership-owned tools.
- Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
- Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report all accidents to a manager or supervisor.
Truck Shop Technician Qualifications:
- Dealership Experience preferred, but not required
- Ford Technical Certifications preferred
- Diesel experience and certification a plus
- Local 701 Union Shop – Benefits provided through Union
- Guaranteed 40 hours pay at rate commensurate with experience level
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test and valid driver license
This is a union shop, and your employment requires that you join the Mechanic's Local 701 Union.
