Irrigation Technician – Job Overview
We are a high-end landscaping and irrigation company seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, and skilled at diagnosing and repairing residential and commercial irrigation systems. This position requires strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work independently in the field.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Construction
- Install new irrigation systems, including valves, manifolds, controllers, piping, wiring, and backflow devices
- Install and set up pumps (jet pumps, submersible pumps) and pressure systems
- Install rain sensors, pressure regulators, and other irrigation components
Maintenance & Service
- Troubleshoot electrical issues, damaged wiring, faulty valves, and broken pipes
- Diagnose and repair low pressure, dry spots, leaks, and coverage issues
- Clean, adjust, or replace nozzles, rotors, filters, and drip components
- Perform system checks and seasonal inspections
Programming & Technical Tasks
- Program controllers (Hunter, Rain Bird, Rachio, etc.)
- Map and label zones accurately
- Optimize run times for efficient water usage
- Test and calibrate pressure and flow
Customer Interaction & Reporting
- Communicate findings, recommended repairs, and pricing to customers professionally
- Document work performed (photos, notes, zone maps)
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a clean jobsite
Equipment & Safety
- Operate trenchers, pipe pullers, and hand tools safely
- Follow company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
- Maintain work vehicle, tools, and inventory
Minimum QualificationsExperience & Skills
- 1–3 years of irrigation service or installation experience (preferred but not required if highly trainable)
- Strong knowledge of valves, controllers, rotors, sprays, drip systems, wiring, pumps, and pipe repair
- Ability to diagnose system issues quickly and accurately
- Ability to read zone maps, wiring diagrams, and layout plans
Licenses & Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in Florida weather
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable using mobile apps for work orders, notes, and customer communication

Preferred Qualifications (Optional but Valuable)
- Backflow certification
- Experience with 2-wire systems

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
