Job Summary
The Manager of External Relations & Engagement serves as a key ambassador for NCH, building and sustaining relationships that advance community health and well-being. This role leads strategic engagement with businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and civic organizations to create meaningful collaborations. By overseeing community programs, tours, and events hosted in NCH spaces, as well as administering grants to mission-aligned partners, the Manager ensures NCH is recognized as a trusted and proactive partner in the region. This integrated approach strengthens NCH’s visibility, fosters goodwill, and aligns external initiatives with organizational priorities. In partnership with Brand Experience function, contributes to the definition of experience standards and success measures for external engagement.

Strategic Partnerships & Community Relations
- Develop and implement strategies to cultivate partnerships with local businesses, chambers of commerce, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Represent NCH at public events, association meetings, and advisory committees to enhance visibility and strengthen community ties.
- Identify opportunities for NCH leadership to serve on boards and committees that advance community health initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between NCH and external partners to address community needs and create collaborative programs that reflect shared values.
- Activate partnerships by coordinating with Marketing and other key stakeholders to ensure visibility, engagement, and alignment across channels.
- Supervise the Community Engagement Coordinator, guiding planning and execution of lectures, health education series, and outreach events, including setting priorities, clarifying experiences expectations, and reviewing outcomes against defined goals.
- Oversee tours and coordinate community groups hosting events in NCH spaces, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and positive guest experiences.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to design programs that address emerging health trends and community priorities.
- Analyze and monitor engagement activities and outcomes, using data to refine strategies and demonstrate impact.
- Manage NCH’s grant program for mission-aligned organizations, ensuring funds are allocated to initiatives that advance community health and strengthen partnerships.
- Oversee the full grant lifecycle, including application review, funding recommendations, compliance, and impact reporting.
- Track requests, approvals, and outcomes; develop KPIs to measure effectiveness and community benefit.
- Prepare monthly insight-driven reports on grant allocations and engagement metrics to inform leadership and guide future investments.
- Prepare and maintain records of partnerships, grants, and engagement activities to support measurement, insight, and informed future planning.
- Oversee budgets for grants and community programs, aligning expenditures with strategic priorities.
- Ensure proper fulfillment of partnership deliverables and activation of agreements.
- Regularly synthesize engagement information to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, public relations, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years in partnership development, community relations, or grant administration, with proven success in managing external relationships.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Excellent communication and public speaking abilities; comfortable engaging with high-profile individuals and diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Delphi).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with diplomacy and professionalism.
