Job Summary
The Director of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) & Ancillaries is responsible for providing operations leadership and direction to HSS at NCH by developing and successfully achieving financial, clinical, customer satisfaction, and quality improvement goals in a supportive work environment. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned.
- Oversee Durable Medical Equipment Fitters.
- Measure and fit off-the-shelf orthopedic bracing and other orthopedic devices.
- Instruct patients regarding use of orthopedic bracing products and other orthopedic devices.
- Ordering of products and maintaining inventory of DME Store.
- Check patient benefits and perform pre-certification for certain orthopedic products.
- Recommend orthopedic bracing and products to patients on a walk-in basis.
- Communicate patient questions or concerns regarding orthopedic products with physicians and staff.
- Communicate with product representatives and vendors regarding product complications or issues.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Inventory management of the DME operations.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained regarding payer requirements and standard operating procedures.
- Perform patient/customer scheduling, education, order processing, delivery, and courtesy call back.
- Comply with all HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other required programs.
- Procurement and insurance processing of durable medical equipment.
- Recommends appropriate charge structure
- Reviews area charge description master with departments on a quarterly or as needed basis.
- Works with the revenue producing departments to ensure ongoing coordinated consistency, including accurate descriptions, coding, additions, deletions, pricing, and any other changes.
- Ensures that all Chargemaster changes are appropriately communicated to affected departments and modifications made in related ancillary systems.
- Analyzes charges and reimbursement to ensure compliance with Federal and State claims submission regulations
- Ensures the existence of accurate charging processes.
- Participates in ongoing coordination and resolution of revenue issues as they arise Monitors charge sheets and systems used by revenue producing departments to verify that they are current and accurate. In cooperation with departmental managers, designs new charge sheets as necessary.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of management level responsibility.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in orthopedic DME or DME owner or manager.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level.
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
