JOB DESCRIPTION
Elementary Paraeducator
186 days- 6 hrs/day

TITLE: Paraeducator
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate Degree (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits will suffice as well) and/or passing score on Praxis Parapro Assessment (can be done after hire but before start date).
- High School Diploma.
- Current Washington State Patrol Background Check.
- Current Fingerprint Check.
- Must comply with all District rules and regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, and parents.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Demonstrated previous successful experience working with students and/or experience in a school setting.
- Ability to effectively manage students’ behavior and effort.
- Knowledge and experience with computers and other educational applications of technology and their use in providing information access and management.
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete records and forms and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with a team to improve instructions, processes, and/or systems to meet the diverse needs of all students and staff.
- Ability to manage time effectively to balance the various duties and changing demands of the job.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise students in any area that students utilize (classroom, gym, playground, locker room, crosswalk, cafeteria, library, etc.).
- Maintain discipline; foster and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
- Establish effective communication and rapport with students, parents, staff, and the school community.
- Collaborate with staff to assist with student learning and activities.
- Perform clerical duties necessary for the smooth operation of activities.
- Provide group and individual support and interventions for identified students.
- Assist in assessing student progress and tracking growth.
- Provide feedback to teachers regarding student learning, growth, goal progress, etc.
- Attend/participate in meetings, conferences, and in-service education/training programs as requested.
- Assist students in use of educational technology.
- Collaborate with staff to provide training to students on safety procedures and safety expectations.
- Assist with the supervision and implementation with school, district, and state assessments.
- Paraeducators, who are assigned the responsibility for bathroom assistance and the changing of diapers/undergarments/clothing as necessary in the preschool program, kindergarten grade level, and any student(s) with an IEP at any grade level that states a need for bathroom assistance and the changing of diapers/undergarments/clothing as necessary, will assist in maintaining students hygiene within the school environment to ensure a clean and comfortable learning environment for all students.
- These performance responsibilities may not encompass all of your duties assigned and flexibility is a must to meet the changing demands.
- All duties will be in line with state law.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Responsible to: Building Principal.
Schedule: Regular District Calendar.
Salary: As Per Contract.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel and contract.
Salary : $21 - $27
