Requirements / Qualifications
Napa Valley Unified School District teachers are expected to teach and follow our developed curriculum as well as incorporate all engagement strategies planned at the school. Teachers are expected to attend planned professional development and implement learned strategies into daily classroom instruction. Candidates should be familiar with highly structured cooperative learning and should be familiar with technology and willing to incorporate technology as a daily teaching tool. Candidates must be dedicated to growing professionally and collaborating with peers to establish a student-centered learning environment. Must be willing to work closely with parent volunteers and support staff in the classroom as well as maintain excellent communications and cooperation within the school community. The District is committed to the goal of developing a workforce reflective of the community’s demographic diversity. Candidates must hold an English Learner Authorization (ELA) or be eligible for an Emergency ELA permit while working on earning an ELA.
This position requires the teacher to be able to work collaboratively with general education teachers in a push in model and be able to write Behavior Support Plans. The applicant must be able to work closely with the site’s principal. BEST team, and leadership team to promote inclusion of students with special needs in general education classrooms. The applicant must have experience working with advocates and be able to demonstrate good problem solving and conflict resolutions. Special Education certification for Moderate to Severe or the equivalent is required. Standard District Qualifications: Must hold a valid California teaching credential authorizing teaching in assigned classroom/subject matter and the equivalent of CLAD or BCLAD certification. Must have knowledge of the curriculum appropriate to the grade level/position, knowledge of instructional, classroom management skills, communications skills, and job responsibility.
