TITLE: General/Instrumental Music Teacher, Nantucket Intermediate School (Grades Prek-2)
Definition: The Nantucket Elementary School Music Teacher plans, organizes and presents instruction and instructional environments which help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.

● Provides musical learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate for grades Prek-2 students that are aligned to state and national music standards
● Instructs students in general, instrumental, and choral music concepts
● Prepares lesson plans and units designed to meet individual needs and motivate students
● Establishes and maintains standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities
● Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school/district policies, goals and objectives
● Provides instrumental music instruction for beginner band instruments (grades 4 and 5 only) ● Creates and manages weekly lesson schedule for instrument groups (grades 4 and 5 only)
● Plans, arranges, and supervises student performances and school concerts
● Communicates with parents through a variety of means in addition to report card cycles.
● Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students with social/emotional needs
● Maintains professional competence through in-service opportunities provided by the district and/or outside professional development and graduate courses
● Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which s/he will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines
● Selects and requisitions instructional materials; maintains inventory records
● Performs other related work as required by the Principal or Assistant Principal
Salary : $77,425 - $136,801
