Job Title: Dental RCM Payment Posting Specialist (In-office Position, $50,000 - $60,000 DOE)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental RCM Payment Posting Specialist to join our growing consulting team. This position will be responsible exclusively for the accurate and timely posting of dental patient and insurance payments for multiple dental practices supported by our firm.
The Payment Posting Specialist will work across multiple client practices and dental practice management systems, ensuring that payments, adjustments, write-offs, and patient balances are accurately recorded and reconciled. This individual will play an important role in maintaining clean accounts receivable records and ensuring that each client's financial data is accurate and up to date.
This is a specialized RCM position focused specifically on payment posting and reconciliation rather than the full revenue cycle management process.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Payment Posting
- Post electronic and paper insurance payments accurately and efficiently.
- Review insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
- Accurately post contractual adjustments, deductibles, co-insurance, and other adjustments.
- Identify and appropriately record insurance overpayments and underpayments.
- Ensure payments are posted to the correct patient accounts, providers, dates of service, and procedures.
Patient Payment Posting
- Post patient payments received by cash, check, credit card, ACH, and other payment methods.
- Accurately apply payments to outstanding patient balances.
- Review patient accounts for unapplied or misapplied payments.
Reconciliation & Account Accuracy
- Reconcile daily payment batches to deposits and electronic payment reports.
- Research and resolve posting discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records within each client's practice management system.
- Assist with identifying trends.
Qualifications
- 2 years experience in dental billing, dental payment posting, and/or dental RCM
- Working knowledge of dental insurance plans, CDT codes, and claims processes
- Experience with dental practice management software, including Dentrix, Fuse, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, and more
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient privacy standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for reporting and tracking
