Summary

Job Description

The Accounting Technician Intern will support the NANA Worley Accounting and Finance team with general accounting responsibilities. This position is a support services position whose work routine is established and follows a set of procedures. Interns will perform assigned duties to acquire knowledge of methods, procedure and standards required for participation in the accounting and financial reporting cycle of NANA Worley. May perform duties such as gathering and organizing data to provide growth in accounting knowledge and skills in a professional setting. It generally functions under close supervisory direction or guidance of an Accounting Supervisor .

NANA will provide lodging and transportation for applicants outside the Anchorage/Matsu Valley area. For more details, feel free to reach out! Internships will run from June to August with some flexibility based on individual availability.

Responsibilities

  • Observes and performs a wide range of typical on-the-job duties within the Accounting Department.
  • Observes and performs various technical, line or staff functions.
  • Monitors personal performance progress with key personnel and accounting professionals.
  • The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the accounting department and help the company be aware of its financial condition.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete work in a timely and accurate manner.
  • The ability to always maintain confidentiality while displaying a professional disposition.
  • Assist with the reviewing of expenses, payroll records, etc. as assigned.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and timely.
  • Ability to work utilizing professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Assist with other accounting projects.

Qualifications

  • Must be a shareholder of NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., or a direct descendant of a shareholder. In accordance with NANA's Shareholder Preference Hiring Policy, priority will be given to NANA shareholders first, followed by shareholder descendants.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational school full-time and have completed one semester of postsecondary education.
  • Be declared in a major/program of Accounting or a closely related field.
  • Looking for students entering their second year of a two-year technical degree .

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients or employees of organization.

Math Ability

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, word processing software, and MS Excel spreadsheet software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy.
