SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the McKinney-Vento program in conducting housing assessments.
Under the direction of the Federal Program Director and McKinney-Vento Liaison this position supports the McKinney-Vento Education Program in processing assessments and student enrollments and supporting student and family needs. Performs work in supporting families in housing transition, as well as prevention for family’s experience homelessness and other duties as assigned.

- Conducts Assessments for families that may qualify for McKinney-Vento services.
- Provides excellent customer service, communication, and organization of family’s needs and resources.
- Refers and connects families to district and community resources as needed for their housing situation.
- Attends training and has knowledge of homelessness, availability of housing resources, application assistance, and overall gathering of resources for students and families to support a preventive approach.
- Gathers and collects information on families in need, their resources, and the prevention of homelessness.
- Works with all departments within the District Office in a positive and collaborative manner
- Translates documents as requested from English to Spanish and acts as a translator, if applicable
- Handles information and records in a responsible and confidential manner.
- Performs all job duties in a professional and confidential manner at all times
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- This job may be performed remotely, if the employee can demonstrate a high level of efficiency with remote work, and if first approved by the Director of Federal Programs.

Education And/Or Experience
- Bachelors degree is preferred. Degrees in social work, sociology, psychology, counseling, education, or related field will be given preference.
- Strong bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of homeless education program, homeless prevention, and supporting at-risk families
- Demonstrates aptitude for working with adolescents, adults, and at-risk families experiencing homelessness
- Works well with students, staff, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work under pressures and deadlines
- Maintains confidentiality of staff and students and community members
