The Director ensures that principals, athletic directors, coaches, co-curricular instructors, and support staff receive quality professional development. They establish a culture that promotes sportsmanship, learning, good conduct, positive attitudes and the District’s values. The Director promotes and articulates the District’s learner focused goals and objectives. They articulate and oversee the District’s Strategic Plan goals and objectives. They develop a comprehensive strategic plan for athletics and activities that is in alignment with the District Strategic Plan. They involve staff, parents and the community in the on-going activities and athletic programs of the District. The Director confers with central administrators and site leadership to assist with staffing, manages specific issues, develops athletics and activities budgets, and directs the selection and provision of athletic resources and facilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Establish program vision, mission, and goals in accordance with the District’s Strategic Plan.
- Create a culture of high expectations, innovation, and continuous improvement within district athletic and activity programs.
- Interpret and communicate the programs, philosophy, and policies of the District to staff, parents, and the community.
- Confer with principals, site athletic directors, and co-curricular instructors regarding the supervision and evaluation of staff.
- Serve as a District representative and assume responsibility at local, state, and national meetings and events pertaining to the interests of the District.
- Address all issues impacting safe and appropriate learning and working environments.
- Ensure that athletic programs are aligned with State requirements, District standards, and the Strategic Plan.
- Serve as a liaison between Human Resources to balance fair hiring practices and the time constraints of getting coaches in front of students is a timely and efficient manner
- Assist with the effective delivery of professional development programs.
- Act as District liaison for various athletic endeavors and activities with area colleges and other community groups and organizations.
- Gather and analyze relevant information to resolve problems with inter/intra school transfers, open enrollment, and athletic eligibility.
- Regularly attend extra-curricular and co-curricular events.
- Coordinate and plan for certification and/or recertification of District coaches to comply with state regulations and requirements.
- Maintain a District-wide activity and athletic program handbook.
- Update district activity policies and procedures.
- Provide athletic assistance and guidance to schools in interpretation of Board policy and the Idaho High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) rules.
- Coordinate facility use agreements in conjunction with building leaders.
- Develop District marketing plan for advertising on district properties, including stadiums and gyms.
- Coordinate Athletic and Activity schedules with associated travel and school board requirements.
- Coordinate the use of Levy funds to address equity in support of Athletics and Activities with associated transparency.
- Coordinate Athletic Training Supports at both High School and Middle School level.
- Support Elementary athletic and activity programs.
- Assist in the evaluation and selection of athletic and activity equipment.
- Aid high school and middle school activity directors in the scheduling of contest officials.
- Monitor the District athletic and activity program for compliance with gender equity.
- Take an active role in the planning of all athletic and activity construction projects and upgrades.
- Coordinate the provisions of athletic training with local community agencies and organizations.
- Coordinate the provisions for physical examinations for all athletes with local community agencies and organizations.
- Coordinate the maintenance of athletic and activity facilities with schools and various District departments.
- Coordinate and oversee the schools’ public relations for all interscholastic sports and activities.
- Promote professional growth and enrichment by encouraging athletic directors, co-curricular instructors, and coaches to be members of professional athletic or activity organizations and to participate in approved professional development.
- Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as attendance at in-services.
- Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise represent the school district in a positive manner.
- Know and follow school district policy and chain of command.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And/Or Experience
- Idaho Administrative Certification required
- Master’s Degree in School Administration, Supervision and Curriculum preferred
- Minimum of 10 years teaching and/or administrative/supervisor experience
- Coaching experience preferred
- Athletic Administration experience preferred
- Demonstrate ability to adjust strategies and practices in order ensure the success of District athletic and activity programs.
