Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and optimization of the production of composite tubes
- Fabricates, cures carbon fiber composite tubes.
- Builds laminated assemblies in a filament winding operation, apply composite, plastic and metal parts and adhesives onto tools or molds.
- Troubleshoot equipment, monitor process parameters, adjust equipment settings as needed to obtain parts that meet customer drawings and internal requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Set up spray booths to apply etching and primer compound to tubes
- Load/unload winding machine mandrels into oven, run cure cycles
- Pull mandrels from composite structure (de-mold)
- Operate compression test machine to verify proof loads
- Run daily production quantities
- Recognize and report all operational variances as trained
- Ability to use a computer and database to download work instructions
- Basic knowledge in using precision measuring tools, i.e. micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.
Required Experience & Skills:
- High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required
- 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing and processing of advanced composite materials preferred
- Ability to interact and communicate as part of a highly functioning team
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Ability to obtain BATF approval to work with our products.
