JOB OVERVIEW:
This position will be in the Research Department and support a range of projects involving formulation development, ballistic testing, and mechanical properties analysis of energetic materials and their components comparing the results to material specifications.
This position will report to the Research Operations Manager, but also work closely with department Chemists, Engineering, and other subject matter experts in Propellants, Explosives, and Pyrotechnics (PEP). The position involves supporting internal projects, as well as supporting legacy PEP products.

- This role will perform standard chemical or mechanical testing in the Research Department as a member of the Energetic Materials Technology organization and will include:
- Apply standard laboratory safety principles to conduct research, analysis, and experimentation on PEP to support product development or improvement to meet program requirements.
- Perform assigned tasks using standardized procedures or detailed written instructions.
- Mix chemical solutions/compositions.
- Perform chemical sampling, physical, chemical, and mechanical testing of materials.
- Prepare samples and hardware for testing.
- Maintain good testing and data collection practices. Accuracy of data is key.
- Organize and document technical data.
- Support internal research and development programs.
- Troubleshoot equipment as necessary, with the support of the department SME.
- Prepare laboratory reports detailing work and results.
- Follow standard laboratory practices and safety procedures.
Required:
- High School graduate or general education diploma (GED) and/or Associates degree in a technical field with hands-on work experience in Mechanical, Chemical, or Physics field
- 2-4 years of related experience
- 2 years of defense/aerospace work experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of general lab instruments
- Ability to obtain approval through BATF to handle explosives.
- High School or general education diploma (GED)
