Job Purpose
The Student Life Program Coordinator works closely with the Director of Peer Initiatives, Education & Training to support NAMI Connecticut’s student programs, including NAMI on Campus clubs, NAMI Connecticut Internship Program, NAMI Ending the Silence, and NAMI Student Navigator. The Student Life Program Coordinator elevates the voice of personal lived experience and supports the expansion and sustainability of NAMI Connecticut’s student support networks, resources, and education programs for students across Connecticut.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Promote, schedule, and occasionally facilitate NAMI Ending the Silence presentations and Student Navigator training for students, school staff, and families.
· Support NAMI Affiliates in recruiting student volunteers and promoting NAMI on Campus clubs at high schools and colleges/universities.
· Serve as the primary contact for student programs; collect and report program data for grants and participate in meetings focused on student mental health.
· Coordinate student internship placements, including managing applications, interviews, orientation, and assignments.
· Identify speakers and develop workshop topics that enhance student-led initiatives, including events such as the NAMI Connecticut Annual Conference, Annual Meeting, webinars, and NAMIWalks.
· Respond to student volunteer inquiries and recommend candidates for leadership roles, including NAMI program trainings and the NAMI Next Gen Advisory Board.
Requirements/Technical Expertise
· High School diploma, GED or higher (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
· Social marketing knowledge, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
· Experience in public speaking and program training
· Computer skills/keyboarding; fluent in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office
· Effective communication skills
Work Environment
· Combination of NAMI Connecticut office and remote office environments, with some travel.
· Requires a flexible work schedule including evenings and some weekends as needed.
