About the Role
Namdar Realty Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Litigation Attorney to join our in-house legal team. This position will primarily focus on managing and overseeing lawsuits and legal claims brought against the company's commercial properties, including premises liability claims, personal injury lawsuits, property-related disputes, and other litigation matters.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee lawsuits and legal claims filed against the company's commercial properties and related entities.
- Handle litigation matters involving premises liability, personal injury claims, slip-and-fall incidents, property damage, negligence claims, and other property-related disputes.
- Review and evaluate new lawsuits, complaints, and legal claims to determine appropriate next steps and defense strategies.
- Draft, review, and prepare pleadings, motions, legal briefs, discovery responses, and other litigation-related documents.
- Conduct legal research and provide recommendations regarding litigation strategies, potential liability, and risk exposure.
- Represent the company in court proceedings, hearings, depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations, as appropriate.
- Coordinate with outside counsel, insurance carriers, and claims adjusters regarding ongoing litigation matters.
- Work closely with property managers and internal departments to gather incident reports, documentation, witness statements, and other information relevant to legal claims.
- Review insurance coverage and assist with coordinating the defense of insured claims.
- Monitor litigation deadlines, court filings, case developments, and settlement discussions.
- Evaluate potential settlements and provide recommendations to management regarding case resolution.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of litigation matters, including case status, deadlines, and outcomes.
- Provide legal guidance to management regarding potential liability, litigation risks, and preventative measures.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably defending property owners, commercial real estate companies, or other businesses against lawsuits.
- Experience handling premises liability, personal injury defense, negligence claims, or insurance defense litigation strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, court rules, and legal research.
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and other litigation materials.
- Experience with depositions, court appearances, and settlement negotiations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple litigation matters and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
