Role overview
Own the build quality, reliability, and safe operation of custom industrial control systems—from panel fabrication through field commissioning.
Core responsibilities- Build UL 508A‑compliant control panels per drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform point‑to‑point wiring, cable routing, labeling, and terminations with workmanship that meets company standards.
- Install and commission PLCs, VFDs, relays, breakers, power supplies, and terminal blocks.
- Assemble and align enclosures, brackets, actuators, motors, gearboxes, and other mechanical subassemblies.
- Fit pneumatic components and cable management systems; integrate electro‑mechanical assemblies into full systems.
- Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and measurement instruments to confirm proper fit and function.
- Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing; document and resolve non‑conformances.
- Verify component selection, wiring accuracy, and adherence to design specifications and BOMs.
- Troubleshoot wiring errors, component failures, and design conflicts; implement corrective actions.
- Redline schematics and drawings; collaborate closely with engineering to resolve issues and optimize designs.
- Review manufacturability and accuracy of prints and parts lists prior to and during builds.
- Maintain thorough build records, test data, and quality documentation; complete regulatory compliance paperwork as needed.
- Ensure compliance with UL 508A, NEC, OSHA, and internal safety policies.
- Mentor junior assemblers/technicians; provide guidance, training, and oversight.
- Champion continuous improvement in panel layout, wiring practices, and production efficiency.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with inventory management, component selection, and material planning.
- Support field service and installation efforts; troubleshoot and repair equipment at customer sites.
- Commission new machines; interact professionally and courteously with customers and coworkers.
- Perform additional tasks and assignments as designated by the supervisor.
