Reporting to local management and the Global Engineering Manager.
We are a dynamic team of professionals supplying our highly successful technology-based products worldwide. We are seeking an organized, efficient, self-starter with an enthusiastic attitude to join our Engineering team. Naiad Dynamics is seeking an electrical designer with a strong background in electrical control systems to assist in product and system development at our Shelton CT office. The successful candidate will become a member of a highly skilled team working on a variety of interesting and challenging projects.
Responsibilities
- Electrical design work within a multi-disciplinary team implementing electrical control systems for stabilizing ship motions
- Electrical cable block & interconnection diagrams, installation drawings, and other customer-facing documentation
- Production and testing documentation
- Design of electrical cabinets and other assemblies
- Champion product quality and assume responsibility for timeliness of project completion
- Programming and configuration of electronic control components used in production assemblies
- Production testing and troubleshooting support as needed
- Inside remote technical support for advanced customer service issues
- Occasional field support in locations around the world to commission, evaluate, and troubleshoot our systems onboard ships
- Other duties reasonably assigned
Candidate Requirements
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design and documentation
- Proficiency with digital logic
- Proficiency with 3D drafting programs such as SolidWorks or Solid Edge
- Experience with 2D drafting programs such as AutoCAD or DraftSight CAE
- Experience producing production and test documentation
- Experience designing to industrial and/or marine standards, such as UL, CE, U.S. National Electric Code, or the various marine standards and classification society rules
Beneficial Skills/Education
- Marine experience (Naval service, Coast Guard service, merchant marine, etc.)
- Experience with PLCs, particularly Automation Direct and Unitronics brands
- Experience with AC and servo motors and drives, particularly ABB, CG Drives, Yaskawa, and Siemens brands
- Experience with control of electric and hydraulic actuators and devices
- Practical knowledge of control theory, including PID loops, and signal processing
