The Opportunity
We are looking for a sharp, experienced Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to step into a leadership role on our accounting team. You will oversee three to four accounting staff, manage the financial reporting for multiple client portfolios and corporate entities, and serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership. Key Responsibilities
Multi-Entity Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee financial reporting for NAI Plotkin corporate operations and managed client portfolios
- Maintain accurate general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations across all entities
- Review monthly financial packages for property owners and condominium associations
- Manage CAM reconciliations, tenant ledger accuracy, and reserve fund accounting
- Coordinate year-end close and support external CPA for tax preparation
AppFolio Administration & Quality Control
- Serve as the firm's AppFolio power user and internal resource for accounting best practices within the platform
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures across the accounting team to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Review work product of direct reports and provide coaching and feedback
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reduce manual processes
Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 3–4 staff accountants and bookkeepers
- Assign and prioritize workload across the team based on portfolio demands
- Conduct regular check-ins, performance reviews, and professional development conversations
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and responsiveness
Strategic & Advisory Support
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support portfolio management decisions and new business development
- Assist leadership in evaluating the financial performance of managed properties and identifying trends
- Support RFP responses and new client onboarding from an accounting and systems standpoint
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning at both the corporate and property level
- Advise on internal controls, financial risk, and operational efficiency
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role
- Experience in property management accounting (commercial, residential, or condominium association preferred)
- Proficiency in AppFolio or comparable property management accounting software (Yardi, MRI, or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, multi-entity reporting, and account reconciliation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail — you catch errors before they become problems
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with third-party property management firms
- Familiarity with CAM reconciliations and tenant billing in a commercial context
- CPA license or CPA candidate (not required, but valued)
- Experience supporting leadership with financial analysis and strategic planning
- Comfort working in a family-owned, relationship-driven business environment
