As a Lead Annotator at Nagish, you will build and manage our annotation team, define high-quality labeling standards, and support the development of tools and training platforms that accelerate our sign language research. You’ll play a central role in scaling our data operations and ensuring that annotation quality is consistent, accurate, and deeply informed by the Deaf and SignWriting communities.

On a Day To Day, You Will
- Design annotation protocols and define labeling standards
- Contract, train, and manage a team of annotators (ideally from the SignWriting community)
- Oversee QA and annotation reviews, either directly or by establishing a review hierarchy
- Collaborate with engineers and researchers to improve annotation tooling and workflows
- Track annotation velocity, consistency, and quality across contributors
- Help design and iterate on a SignWriting training platform
- Background in linguistics or sign language (preferably both)
- Familiarity with SignWriting is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in managing people and projects
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Experience developing educational or training content
- Experience managing annotation teams or workflows is a plus
- Working hours are aligned with the Eastern Time Zone
- Compensation: $60K-$90K per year, depending on experience and qualifications
