Nagarro are partnered with a leading quantitative investment manager seeking a senior production support engineer to join their New York trading technology team. This isn't a traditional support desk role.
You'll sit close to the front office, acting as the senior escalation point for production issues impacting trading systems, execution connectivity, market data and critical trading workflows. Working alongside portfolio managers, developers and infrastructure teams, you'll take ownership of incidents through to resolution, ensuring the trading platform remains stable during US market hours.
The wider support model includes offshore L1/L2 coverage, with this role focused on higher-level investigation, troubleshooting and incident ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the L3 escalation point for production issues impacting trading systems and front-office users.
- Investigate and resolve complex incidents across trading applications, market data, FIX connectivity and platform services.
- Support portfolio managers and trading teams during market hours.
- Diagnose order flow, execution and trade lifecycle issues.
- Analyse application, infrastructure and FIX logs to identify root causes.
- Partner with development and infrastructure teams to drive permanent resolutions.
- Improve monitoring, observability and operational processes.
- Create and enhance runbooks, automation and operational tooling.
- Perform post-release validation and production health checks.
- Lead major incident management and communication during critical outages.
What We're Looking For
- 10 years' experience in Production Support, Trading Systems Support, Application Support or Platform Operations.
- Strong background supporting front-office trading environments.
- Experience working directly with traders, portfolio managers or investment professionals.
- Strong understanding of trading workflows and trade lifecycle processes.
- Solid FIX protocol knowledge including session management, sequence numbers, rejects and order flow troubleshooting.
- Strong Linux experience.
- Experience with AWS or cloud-hosted production environments.
- SQL and scripting skills (Python preferred).
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms.
- Ability to remain calm and structured during high-severity incidents.
Highly Desirable
- Buy-side experience within a hedge fund, asset manager or systematic trading environment.
- Exposure to OMS, EMS, market data and execution platforms.
- Experience supporting systematic, quantitative or algorithmic trading platforms.
