Job Summary
Within the Office of Careers, Internships, and Achievement (CIA), the study abroad strategist is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, assessing, and improving international education programs such as study abroad, international student exchange, global service learning, and global internships. The strategist will also receive cross-training to support the full range of CIA services. This position collaborates with the director and strategists in the CIA, partnering organizations, faculty, staff, and students to promote, grow, and assess study abroad opportunities students.

Job Responsibilities and Execution
- Oversees the study abroad application and approval process. In particular, enforces Lindenwood study abroad policies, including academic policies and procedures
- Supports processes that monitor and respond to health and safety issues that students participating in Lindenwood-sponsored study abroad programs may face
- Identifies and nominates students for endowed scholarships and grants that can be applied towards study abroad and international education
- Assists in the collection, tabulation, and analysis of outcomes data related to study abroad and international education. Provides suggestions for implementing improvements in study abroad and international education programs based on analysis of outcomes data
- Provides career coaching including resume review, interview preparation, and job search strategies
- Assists students with internship services and identifying employer opportunities
- Assists with First Destination Survey data collection and other assessment initiatives
- Supports career fairs, networking events, employer information sessions, and other CIA programming as needed
- Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
- Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values
- Supports service learning advising and progression toward the Community Service Honors Designation
- Coordinates and conducts pre-departure orientations and post-return debriefings
- Supports outbound students as they work to meet all immigration and compliance regulations, including passport and visa acquisition if needed
- Establishes and maintains effective communication with external stakeholders and partnering organizations
- Uses social media and other media outlets to promote study abroad opportunities to current and prospective students
- Collaborates with colleagues across multiple divisions to develop integrated programming
- Develops and implements study abroad opportunities in collaboration with third-party providers, international education consortia, faculty, and staff, including the planning and coordination of short-term faculty-led programs
- Collaborates with Student Financial Services to handle billing and application of financial aid to study abroad and international education
- Increases visibility and knowledge of study abroad and other international education opportunities through various channels of marketing and communication
Required Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in advising and mentoring students in higher education preferred
- Study Abroad experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty and staff
- Ability to work in groups, work independently and advise on confidential issues
- Ability to effectively use general office hardware and computer software applications,
- Ability to advise college students in areas of experiential learning, career planning and academic development.
