Youth Counselor

NAFI Rhode Island is exploring candidates for a Youth Counselor. Main Street's semi-independent living program serves emerging young adults, ages 16-21, who are struggling with transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. Our goal is to provide all youth the skills and logistical support that will permit them to become self-supporting in the community.

Responsibilities Include: 

• Dedicated, compassionate and qualified person with excellent verbal and written communications, solid professional boundaries, and the ability to work independently.
• A positive role model who can motivate our clients to reach their full potential. Supervise and maintain the safety of the clients.
• Support youth in developing daily living skills.
• Communicate any issues and concerns and complete routine paperwork. Attend staff meetings and scheduled trainings.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting environment.
• All candidates must successfully clear DCYF, Driving Record, and RI State background checks.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to transport clients as needed.

Desired Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma required

• Valid driver’s license required

• Ability to transport clients as needed

• Must successfully clear DCYF, Driving Record, and RI State background checks

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Solid professional boundaries and ability to work independently

• Compassionate, dedicated, and positive role model for youth

• Ability to motivate and support clients in developing daily living skills

• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and inviting environment

• Willingness to attend staff meetings and scheduled trainings

Hourly: $22.50 / per hour
