Position Summary:
NAFI CT is currently seeking a Behavior Technician to join our team at the Corbin House Group Home in New Britain.
The Corbin House Group Home is a Department of Children and Families (DCF)-funded four-bed residential program serving adolescent males ages 13–20 with developmental disabilities and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. Our dedicated team provides 24-hour supervision, clinical support, and unconditional care in a structured environment that fosters individualized treatment and future planning.
Responsibilities Include:

Serve as key staff member for clients assigned to you, assuring supervision and accountability for them at all times.

Be available to fulfill staff vacancies on an as-needed basis.

Provides and assists with the development of treatment and/or service plans, goals, and individual counseling to the client to discuss interpersonal issues and treatment issues.

Demonstrates the ability to assess client skill levels. And counsels clients in the areas of independent living, coping strategies, pro-social, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and navigating peer pressure.

Maintains professional boundaries.

Demonstrates the ability to set and adhere to limits.

Ensures that client safety is a priority.

Ensures that client success is paramount by implementing an effective daily schedule that creates a culture to inspire clients to achieve goals.

Demonstrates/role models strong interpersonal skills, pro-social behaviors, and professional responsibility to the internal and external community.

Demonstrates computer literacy by utilizing an electronic health record to ensure timely, accurate, and well-written documentation of clients’ activities; utilizing a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to record hours worked and to submit requests for time off; and utilizing email.

Attends and participates in staff meetings.

May participate in and facilitate program group sessions when appropriate.

Prepares summaries of interactions and objective behavioral observations of clients at the end of each shift.

Participates in staff training, maintains certifications as appropriate and required, and demonstrates the ability to pass proficiency test(s), where appropriate.

Provides safe transportation for clients as necessary.

Perform crisis prevention and interventions, including de-escalation techniques and/or physical management as needed and allowed.

Completes other related duties as assigned.

Performs all duties in accordance with the Agency’s policies and procedures.

Desired Qualifications:

High School Diploma (Required)

Nice to have associate or bachelor’s degree

1–2 years of relevant experience in Social Work, Health Care, Nursing, Human Services or relevant

Hourly: $19.50 / per hour
Full-Time Schedule 40-hour position
- 2nd Shift Behavior Technician, A-Side (40 hours)
