What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Support Professional – Evenings & Weekends (Part-Time) position at Nadon Family Home, LLC?
Nadon Family Home supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, work, and build lives in the Mat-Su Valley. We're hiring two part-time Residential Support Professionals for evening and weekend shifts in our group homes.
Schedules available:
- Position A (Part-time): Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
- Position B (Part-time): Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
Weeknight shifts run 5:00 pm to 9:00 or 10:00 pm. Sunday shifts are daytime and/or evening hours, finalized at hire, and may include time at a second nearby home. Each position is about 15–20 hours a week.
What you'll do:
- Coach residents through daily living skills like hygiene, meals, and routines in a way that builds independence and respects dignity
- Keep evenings predictable and help residents move through transitions and changes in plans calmly
- Be a genuine conversation partner: listen, engage with residents' interests, and gently help conversations go both ways
- Support residents in building connections with peers, not just staff
- Help residents get out into the community and pursue their own goals
- Document services accurately and on time
What we're looking for:
- Patience with repetition. Some residents need time to process information and may need directions repeated, calmly and without frustration.
- Steady under rigidity. You stay flexible and calm when someone else is stuck on a routine or a "right way" of doing things.
- Good at real conversation, including with someone who'd happily talk about one favorite topic all night
- Reliability. These homes need people who show up on schedule, every time.
- Willingness to learn wheelchair transfers using a mechanical lift (training provided)
- 18 , valid Alaska driver's license, and ability to pass a background check
- Experience supporting neurodivergent adults, or a background in education, special education, or speech/language support, is a plus. We train.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 15.0 per week
