Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy

• Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. Â

• Education
• VHA Social Worker must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
• Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited
• A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work
• Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work
• Licensure
• Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level
• May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria)
• Grade Determinations: Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment - the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates
• Supervisory Social Worker - GS-12 Experience/Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level
• Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment
• Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship - or equivalent supervised professional experience
• Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure
• Demonstrated Knowledge - Skills - and Abilities: In addition to the experience above - the candidate must demonstrate all of the following knowledge - skills and abilities (KSAs): Ability to independently organize work - set priorities - and meet multiple deadlines
• Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision - consultation - negotiation with other departments and quality improvement
• Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services
• Ability to provide staff training and development
• Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees - team leaders - and managers
• Preferred Experience: Experience and interest in treating substance use disorder (SUD) with challenging comorbid conditions - and enjoys outpatient - residential care - and case management

• May be required to wear personal protective equipment and undergo annual TB screening or testing as conditions of employment
• Work Environment: Work is performed in an office clinic setting with minimal risks that requires normal safety precautions

Duties

• Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional This position functions as Supervisor - and clinician/lead - ensuring access and quality are at their best in all Substance Use Disorder (SUD) related care for the assigned Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) improving access and quality to SUD care for Veterans
• This position is located at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO) - Mental Health - Community Based Outpatient VA Clinic in Springfield - MO
• The duties of the Supervisory Social Worker - Intensive Outpatient Program Substance Use Disorder include - but are not limited to: Supervises day to day operations of all things related to the assigned intensive outpatient program (IOP): Leading/auditing for Joint Commission compliance - for required biopsychosocial assessments - treatment plan completion - treatment plan reviews - clinically indicated interventions - fidelity to program requirements - urine drug screens - transportation to and from IOP - collaboration between IOP clinical staff and VA contracted residential staff - general mental health - medical services assistants - trauma recovery clinic - primary care - hospital care - mental health prescribers - and Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health leadership
• Reports directly to the Director of SUD Services - then Deputy Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health and then the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health
• Responsible for clinical and supervisory care primarily during clinic hours of business but may on occasion be called by VA contracted staff who have need of further collaboration for patient care during off hours
• Works under the general supervision of the Director of SUD Services/Care Line Manager - who establishes objectives and department priorities
• Work Schedule: Monday-Friday - 8:00am-4:30pm - subject to change based on the needs of the service
