Position Purpose
The Lead EVS Technician supports the Environmental Services (EVS) management team—including the EVS Manager/Director and EVS Supervisor—by providing daily operational leadership and coverage in their absence. This role ensures a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly environment throughout the hospital or assigned areas, following all infection control guidelines, regulatory standards, and department policies. The Lead EVS Technician helps maintain the highest quality of patient, staff, and visitor experience while supporting team performance and workflow.

Position Purpose

Summary Of Duties (Not All Inclusive)
- Provide leadership support by helping teach, guide, and encourage EVS co-workers.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with hospital staff, assisting in problem-solving and teamwork.
- Safely operate chemical dispensing units and use cleaning agents according to manufacturer instructions.
- Complete assigned duties efficiently and help team members stay on task.
- Follow cleaning schedules, department policies, and supervisor instructions.
- Perform terminal cleaning after patient discharge or transfer to ensure rooms are ready for new occupancy.
- Clean and disinfect isolation rooms following infection control procedures.
- Maintain all areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition for patient comfort and safety.
- Clean assigned vacant areas to ensure readiness for use.
- Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, vents, light covers, and equipment.
- Clean, wash, and disinfect all bathroom fixtures, including sinks, toilets, and showers.
- Clean interior and exterior windows and mirrors.
- Clean outbuildings per supervisor instructions and applicable procedures.
- Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, and ensuring wet floor precautions are used.
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, security issues, and equipment defects to the appropriate personnel.
