Duties

  • Perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care plans.
  • Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic to document patient information, treatment plans, and medical records with precision.
  • Provide specialized care such as wound suturing, ostomy care, dialysis management, or ventilator support based on your expertise.
  • Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, imaging procedures like sonography or mammography, and diagnostic coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
  • Manage acute pain through advanced pain management techniques and monitor patients in critical care units such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers.
  • Support discharge planning, patient education, and case management to ensure seamless transitions from hospital to home or long-term care facilities.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments such as emergency rooms, ICU, telemetry units, or outpatient clinics.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy essential for accurate patient assessment and documentation.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Epic for efficient medical records management.
  • Hands-on experience with IV insertion, catheterization (including Foley and central lines), phlebotomy, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Critical care experience preferred—especially in trauma centers or Level I/II trauma environments—and familiarity with trauma medicine protocols.
  • Ability to perform complex procedures such as tube feeding management, NG tube placement, spinal taps, or neonatal resuscitation procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration within fast-paced settings like urgent care or hospital medicine.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices aligned with CDC guidelines to ensure patient safety across all care activities.
