Position Purpose:
The Dialysis RN at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising individualized care plans for dialysis patients while upholding the hospital’s mission and values. The nurse monitors patients’ clinical status throughout dialysis treatments—both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis—and supports the care team in delivering high-quality, standards-based acute dialysis care.
This role includes direct patient care as well as the delegation and supervision of nursing tasks in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act. Key responsibilities involve demonstrating clinical expertise, managing and improving patient care quality, fostering professional relationships, and contributing to the hospital's goals. Summary of Duties (not all inclusive)

Monitor and record patients’ vital signs and conditions before, during, and after dialysis.

Administer and oversee both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments.

Identify and respond to adverse patient reactions during treatment.

Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.

Communicate any issues or changes in patient condition to physicians promptly.

Collaborate with dialysis technicians to ensure proper equipment setup and function.

Educate patients and families on home dialysis use, treatment options, kidney care, and healthy lifestyle habits.

Train new staff and ensure compliance with protocols and standards.

Manage medication use and document patient assessments throughout treatment.

Address patient concerns and ensure respectful, quality care delivery.

Review lab results and patient data, and report relevant updates to physicians.

Support overall clinical operations and assist with other duties aligned with organizational goals.

Qualifications:- Required: Registered Nurse Licensure from the Texas State Board of Nursing or Compact Licensure.
- Required: BLS (CPR) Certified within 30 days of hire date.
- Required: Read, Write, and Communicate effectively in English.
- Required: Dialysis-ACLS within 6 months of employment.
- Required: Must be able to accurately interpret color test strips.
- Required: Minimum of two years of experience
- Preferred: Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NCC) is advantageous.
