Patient Care Tech FT- Geri Psych (29099)

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides consistent hygienic care and support to assigned patients in a professional, courteous, and thorough manner, ensuring optimal patient comfort, safety, and dignity. The PCT assists nursing staff and other healthcare professionals by carrying out a variety of essential patient care and clerical duties.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Provide consistent hygienic care to assigned patients, maintaining professionalism and respect.

2. Change patient linens as appropriate and maintain clean and comfortable patient environments.

3. Turn patients and maintain body alignment as directed; assist patients to and from bathrooms.

4. Accurately take and document vital signs, oxygen levels, food/liquid intake, blood pressure, and temperature in EMR.

5. Communicate incomplete duties during shift handoff to charge nurse or team leader.

6. Maintain orderly patient rooms: fill water pitchers, clean eyeglasses, check patient laundry, and ensure accessibility of call lights, phones, remotes, etc.

7. Obtain and record intake & output, collect specimens, and follow proper documentation protocols.

8. Perform Accu-Check glucose testing and promptly report results to appropriate nursing staff.

9. Prepare patients for meals—assist with dressing, hygiene, and transportation to dining area.

10. Monitor dining area during mealtime and assist as needed.

11. Coordinate with other departments to check schedules and ensure correct patient identification before transportation.

12. Safely transport patients and ensure charts/paperwork accompany the patient. Follow all driving and transport safety procedures.

13. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the hospital's mission and vision.

• Required: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Preferred: Previous patient care experience.
• Required: BLS (CPR) certification.
• Preferred: ER or Psych experience.
