Position Summary

Naco Elementary School District is seeking a positive, enthusiastic, and dependable individual to serve as the Naco Middle School Volunteer Cheer Sponsor.

This is a volunteer opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with students and would like to help establish and support a middle school cheer program at Naco. The program will provide students with an opportunity to participate in cheer during the 3rd Quarter Sports Season beginning in January.

The Cheer Sponsor will help students learn basic cheerleading skills, routines, teamwork, school spirit, and appropriate conduct while representing Naco Middle School at athletic events, school activities, and community performances.

Primary Responsibilities

The Volunteer Cheer Sponsor will:

• Organize and supervise middle school cheer practices beginning in preparation for the 3rd Quarter sports season.
• Teach students basic cheerleading skills, chants, routines, motions, and appropriate cheerleading techniques.
• Prepare and organize cheer routines for home middle school sporting events.
• Coordinate with the Athletic Director and school administration regarding the cheer schedule and activities.
• Supervise cheer participants during practices, home athletic events, school performances, and approved community activities.
• Promote positive school spirit, sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and the Cardinal PRIDE expectations.
• Encourage students to demonstrate positive attitudes and appropriate behavior while representing Naco Middle School.
• Provide students with opportunities to perform at school assemblies, programs, and other approved school or community events.
• Communicate regularly with school administration and the Athletic Director regarding the program, student participation, schedules, and concerns.
• Follow all Naco Elementary School District policies, procedures, safety requirements, and student supervision expectations.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participating students.

Program Schedule

The cheer program will begin in January as part of the 3rd Quarter sports season.

The Volunteer Cheer Sponsor should be available to:

• Hold regular practices at times approved by the school.
• Attend and supervise cheerleaders at home sporting events.
• Prepare students for performances at school events and assemblies.
• Participate in approved performances representing Naco Middle School within the school and community.

Specific practice and performance schedules will be developed in coordination with the Athletic Director and school administration.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should:

• Enjoy working with middle school students.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm for school spirit.
• Have experience with cheerleading, dance, coaching, athletics, or working with students preferred, but not required.
• Be dependable, responsible, and able to provide appropriate student supervision.
• Demonstrate good communication and organizational skills.
• Support the mission, values, and expectations of Naco Elementary School District.
• Be willing to complete any required district screening, fingerprinting, or other volunteer requirements.

Compensation

This is a volunteer position and is not a paid position.

The opportunity is intended for an individual who is interested in supporting Naco students and providing them with a positive extracurricular experience through cheerleading.
