About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day operations across boring, fencing, and general construction services. This role is essential in ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably. Serving as the connection between field operations and company leadership, you will oversee scheduling, resource allocation, equipment utilization, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily field operations, including boring, fencing, and general construction.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, timelines, and crew assignments.
- Monitor field progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Support field supervisors with logistical planning, materials coordination, and equipment management.
Project & Process Management
- Review project scopes to determine labor, equipment, and material requirements.
- Implement and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and quality.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with company and client standards.
- Collaborate with estimating, procurement, and accounting teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Personnel Management
- Lead, train, and mentor field staff and supervisors.
- Monitor crew productivity, attendance, and safety performance.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and career development of team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and foster professional growth across the operations team.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA and local safety regulations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through inspections, toolbox talks, and incident reviews.
- Maintain safety documentation including training, incident, and inspection records.
Financial & Administrative
- Track and analyze job costs, labor hours, and equipment utilization.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
- Manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors; approve related invoices.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of progressive experience in construction operations or project management.
- Experience in boring (directional or auger), fencing, and light-to-medium construction strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods across multiple disciplines.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, contracts, and specifications.
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling software.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Performance Indicators
- Projects completed on schedule and within budget.
- Reduction in operational downtime and material waste.
- Strong safety metrics (zero lost-time incidents).

Working Conditions
- Combination of office and field work; frequent site visits required.
