Who We Are

At NAC, we design environments where people and communities thrive. Our integrated design approach brings together architecture, interiors, engineering, and lighting to create thoughtful, human-centered spaces. Our lighting designers are key contributors—using light as both a technical and expressive design tool to enhance experience, performance, and wellbeing.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Lighting Design Professional who brings both technical expertise and creative curiosity to our multidisciplinary teams. This role supports a wide range of project types and scales, collaborating closely with architects, interior designers, engineers, and clients to translate design vision into integrated lighting solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Develop interior and exterior lighting concepts that support design intent, user experience, and project goals.

• Select luminaires, lighting controls, and systems; perform lighting calculations and energy code analysis.

• Produce lighting documentation including fixture layouts, control zoning, specifications, and calculations.

• Collaborate as an integrated member of the design team, contributing ideas and technical insight throughout all project phases.

• Research products, materials, and installation methods; coordinate with manufacturers and representatives.

• Perform field observations and support reports related to existing lighting and control systems.

• Support bidding and construction administration through submittal reviews, RFIs, and site observations.

• Ensure lighting solutions align with budget, schedule, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

What You Bring

• Strong understanding of how lighting integrates with architecture, interiors, landscape, and construction.

• Ability to communicate lighting concepts clearly through diagrams, graphics, and written documentation.

• Knowledge of lighting technologies, controls, daylighting strategies, and energy performance.

• Experience with lighting design software such as AGi32, Dialux, Visual, or similar tools.

• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines and offices.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and budget expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Theater Design, or related field.

• 6 years of professional lighting design experience in the A/E/C industry.

• Experience with a range of project types including education, healthcare, and civic environments.

• Proficiency with Revit documentation and Bluebeam preferred.

• Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus.

• Professional certifications (CLD, LC, LEED AP, WELL AP) a plus.
