Title: Field Service Engineer
Nature of Role: The Field Service Support Engineer is based at Nabsys’ Providence, RI headquarters, and is responsible for installing, maintaining and servicing our current and future OhmX installed base across the Nabsys ecosystem, which includes both remote company and third-party customer sites. This is an individual contributor position with opportunities for growth within the product development of field operations organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Proficiency in repairing scientific instruments that include fluidics, electronics, and mechanical systems
- Keen problem-solving skills
- Fluency in English with clear verbal and written communication skills
- Respond to incoming OhmX support requests and ensure timely, high-quality, and well documented resolution of cases
- Proficiency in supporting a field application support team remotely with real-time or other approved communications tools
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Familiarity with commonly used field service support software and applications (including electronic instrument history files, repair records, field service dispatch, inventory management, report generation, and CRM)
- Strong customer focus and customer management skills
- Comfortable operating in a highly matrixed organisation and representing field service in a product development team
- Compliant with company and industry safety standards
- Willing to travel, including occasional international trips, up to 40% of the time to provide installation, maintenance, or repair services
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific discipline, or equivalent technical and work experience
- Three to five years’ experience as a field service engineer for scientific instruments ideally utilizing fluidics, electronics, embedded computer systems, and mechanical systems
- Formal training in problem solving and/or quality systems such as Kepner Tregoe, FMEA, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management or similar is desirable
- Certifications such as CBET (AAMI) are a plus
- Familiarity with Salesforce service and support modules are a plus
- Fluency in languages other than English is a plus
