Summary:
The Director of VDC (Virtual Design & Construction)/Innovation is responsible for managing the process of gathering, evaluating, and implementing innovative ideas for the entire corporation as well as training and supporting project teams in virtual design and construction activities. This role includes overseeing the Virtual Design and Construction Department activities and encouraging a culture of innovation and lean techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage process and systems necessary for gathering, evaluating, and implementing innovative ideas for entire corporation.
- Manage Virtual Design and Construction Department personnel.
- Develop and maintain VDC workflows and standard practices.
- Implement and support project-based technology.
- Generate & maintain quality Building Information Models and content for project teams.
- Provide license management and technical support for all staff on VDC applications.
- Manage or assist with building and system model coordination meetings.
- Develop system models of different detail levels for all construction trades as necessary.
- Adjust building system models for constructability.
- Conduct training and presentation of VDC tools.
- Assist Preconstruction in quantity takeoff activities.
- Create visualizations for site logistics.
- Encourage and support culture of innovation.
- Research new technologies and techniques to stay “in touch” with developments in the industry.
- Lead corporate activities for any innovative initiative that results in an acquisition or new service line, etc.
- Work with the IT department to equip staff with proper hardware and software tools.
- Represent Nabholz at meetings, peer groups, other industry events focused on innovation and VDC.
- This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes.
- This position requires driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company or a company vehicle; therefore, the applicant must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, and immediately self-report convictions/violations/tickets to the DOT Compliance Specialist as per Company Policy. Any negative change in the status of the employee’s driving record may result in the revocation of the employee’s privilege to drive for the company.

Education/Skill Requirements:
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent.
- Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- Working knowledge of drafting and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to work in a constantly changing technical environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and team leadership ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with professional, friendly presentation.
- Overnight travel is required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to continuously sit, stand, or walk.
- Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in heat or cold, work outside, and work in high elevations.
Work environment:
- Office, job site, job trailer, or field office.
