POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable Staff Accountant will be supporting the Accounts Payable Manager in the finance and accounting activities. This position is responsible for entering all vendors in the accounts payable system, and ensuring that vendor invoices and expense reports are processed in a timely and accurate manner. This role will also support the Finance and Accounting team with the financial statement audits.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Input vendors in bill payment system ensuring they are properly set up with the required documentation.
- Process vendor invoices and expense reports timely and accurately, ensuring proper authorization and account coding, while addressing staff inquiries.
- Assist with the annual Form 1099 filings in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with other account reconciliations as needed, to include but are not limited to Accounts Payable, Prepaids, Accruals, and Fixed Assets.
- Follow all internal controls related to all accounting functions/processes to include accounts payable and general ledger accounting.
- Support the annual financial statement audits of the NAACP and its affiliates.
- Provide strong customer service on an individual basis or through team members by responding to all inquiries in an accurate and timely manner from internal and external individuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of work experience in finance/accounting, preferably with general operations of a non-profit entity.
- Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures including account reconciliation.
- Ability to manage high-volume workload within a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to understand organizational and accounting related workflows and processes.
- Strong technical, critical thinking, problem solving, and investigative skills.
- Ability to work well with fellow team members.
- Strong computer aptitude skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred.
